Brzdové Automobilové Kotouce

BAK is a modern "state of the art" grey iron foundry, located in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic. The plant started production in April 2002 and is amongst Europe's leading manufacturers of automotive brake discs and drums.

The foundry utilizes 2 fully automated Disamatic moulding lines. Melting takes place in two six tonne Inductotherm furnaces with metal being dispensed via heated Calamari auto-pour units. A Selcom Laserpour system on each line controls metal pouring.

The foundry employs over 100 staff producing in excess of 30,000 tonnes of castings per year. Quality is assured through a well-equipped and modern in-house metallurgical laboratory. In addition statistical process control is applied throughout the entire foundry process from melting and moulding to sand control.

BAK has quickly established itself as a leading supplier of safety critical components to the European automotive industry.
